Let's start with a little history, shall we? On this day in 1789, The Judiciary Act of 1789 is passed by Congress and signed by President George Washington, establishing the Supreme Court of the United States as a tribunal made up of six justices who were to serve on the court until death or retirement. That day, President Washington nominated John Jay to preside as chief justice, and John Rutledge, William Cushing, John Blair, Robert Harrison, and James Wilson to be associate justices. On September 26, all six appointments were confirmed by the U.S. Senate.Also-On this day in 622, the prophet Muhammad completes his Hegira, or “flight,” from Mecca to Medina to escape persecution. In Medina, Muhammad set about building the followers of his religion–Islam–into an organized community and Arabian power. The Hegira would later mark the beginning (year 1) of the Muslim calendar.And-On this day in 1964, President Lyndon B. Johnson receives a special commission’s report on the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, which had occurred on November 22, 1963, in Dallas, Texas. During its almost year-long investigation, the Warren Commission reviewed reports by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Secret Service, Department of State and the attorney general of Texas. It also pored over Oswald’s personal history, political affiliations and military record. Overall, the Warren Commission listened to the testimony of 552 witnesses and even traveled to Dallas several times to visit the site where Kennedy was shot. The enormous volume of documentation from the investigation was placed in the National Archives and much of it is now available to the public. Access to Kennedy’s autopsy records, though, are highly restricted. To view them requires membership in a presidential or congressional commission or the permission of the Kennedy family. Apple appears to be entering streaming entertainment. Looks like they will have a lot to say about the content, which isn't a bad approach. Breaking News- Sirius XM has agreed to purchase Pandora in an all-stock deal valued at about $3.5B. Pandora owners will receive 1.44 SIRI shares for each Pandora share they hold, an implied price of $10.14 per share vs. Friday's $9.09 close. As a owner of both stocks, I like it!$P $SIRI Nothing on e-cigarette makers having a timeline to show how they are going to curb teen users? I guess that WSB was too full today to include this, which was Trending News yesterday. Here's a thought. Enforce the age restrictions to buying tobacco products. Leave that in the hands of the retailers. Seems to work with alcohol sales. This is the day The Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it. Trending News yesterday that carried over today about Volkswagen and their decision to stop producing diesel versions of their Porsche automobiles. Got it. I have to say that when looking for a new SUV, we never considered Porsche. Where is Jon Corzine and did he really pick the Buffalo Bills over the Minnesota Vikings?
